Take Back Tuesday

By Spender Jaclyn

I am taking back my power today.

I am noticing how loud the world is when it comes

   to spending.

  Buy one get one.

  Limited time only.

  Rare.

  One of a kind.

  Only a few left.

  Act now.

My inbox reminding me I “forgot” something in my cart.

Ads showing me exactly what I just talked about like

    they are reading my mind.

I used to feel like I had to respond.

Like if I did not click, I would miss something.

Like the deal was controlling me.

Today I am choosing something different.

  I am choosing the pause.

I am reminding myself that urgency is often

   manufactured.

That “limited” does not mean necessary.

That “rare” does not mean I need it.

That “add to cart” is not the same as adding value

    to my life.

I am taking back my ability to say no.

  No to the pressure.

No to the illusion of scarcity.

No to the voice that says I need to act right now.

I am choosing peace over impulse.

I am choosing presence over purchase.

I am choosing freedom over fear of missing out.

Today, my power is not in what I buy.

My power is in the pause.

And in that pause, I find peace.

Here are my top lines for Take Back Tuesday

    Pause….

  I stop.

I do not click. I do not scroll. I do not add to cart.

  I breathe.

In for 4… hold for 4… out for 6.

I let my body catch up to this moment.

  I notice.

  I am feeling the pull.

  I am feeling urgency.

I am feeling the need to fix something with a purchase.

  I remind myself.

This is an urge, not a need.

  This feeling will pass.

No sale is more important than my peace.

  I choose.

  I choose to wait.

I choose to protect my time, my money, and my mind.

  I choose peace over purchase.

  I redirect.

I will stand up, drink water, step outside, pray, or clean.

   one small thing.

here to start customizing

 Enough

  I have enough

  I AM enough

  I have nothing to prove

I don’t have to be perfect to be remarkable.

Just for today

Just for today I will try to stay in today, not tackle my whole spending problem all at once. I can do this just for today.

Just for today I will be happy. It takes too much energy to be unhappy, so just for today I will make up my mind to be happy.

Just for today I will accept what my Higher Power has in mind for me, and make a concerted effort to follow it for today.

Just for today I will improve my mind by reading or trying something new. I will exercise Holy curiosity and I will listen to others

Just for today I will do a small something for somebody and will not get found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count. I will do two things I don’t want to do, just for my program.

Just for today I will remember to play…to let my little kid out by walking, skipping, swimming, skating, biking, dancing singing or whatever feels like fun.

Just for today I will be unafraid. I will take a deep breath, slow down, and notice the beauty around me. I will keep my focus on my part - keep my eyes on myself.

Just for today, I will present. myself, just for me, not to impress anyone else. I will not try to improve or regulate anyone. I will be courteous and

non-judgmental.

Just for today I will spend half an hour with just me, in meditation or relaxing alone. I will gain a better perspective on my life.

Just for today I will write down my money as I spend it, and pray for my vagueness about my money to be removed. I don’t need to do this perfectly…just do it.

Just for today I will remember to use a different part of the program (abstinence, anonymity, service, humor, exercise, sponsorship, reading, writing, phone calls, prayer, meditation, slogans, play and plan of action) to keep my focus on my program.

Just for today I will remember that I am not alone, that others share my problem and that help is available to me if I seek it.
